SIGFOX CELEBRATES COVERING ONE BILLION PEOPLE ACROSS THE GLOBE

Berlin, Germany – October 25th, 2018 – Today at Sigfox Connect, its big annual event dedicated to IoT, Sigfox, the world’s leading Internet of Things (IoT) services provider, announced that its network now covers over 1 billion people across 53 countries, with Austria, Lichtenstein, Romania, Norway, Kenya, Peru, Guatemala and Honduras most recently joining the Sigfox network.

What was one of the biggest bets ever made by a European company has become reality. Sigfox offers the widest network globally in terms of population covered under a single umbrella. No other network offers the same interfaces, service level agreement (guaranteed by all the Sigfox Operators worldwide) or pricing, for an unprecedented and unique customer value proposition.

Sigfox’s network has grown at an unbelievable pace since its first antenna was set-up in 2013, now covering an area which represents 90% of the world’s GDP, in five continents. Today Sigfox announces this major achievement to reach the essential foundations to onboard tier one partners like ALPS, enabling them to setup their assembly lines to produce millions of devices every month. The sheer amount of data that can be collected through Sigfox’s network will also allow businesses to harness the power of big data and create additional value for their customers.

Sigfox is not only the widest network, it’s also the simplest secured network, compatible with basic radio chipsets. Sigfox modules debuted at 12$, coming down to 2$ in 2016, and now a 0,20$ design is available on an industrial scale. Now, one billion people can enjoy IoT solutions at unbeatable prices.

The network covers nearly all major strategic transport hubs, including airports, ports and train stations, opening up tremendous opportunities, particularly for the logistics and supply chain sector. Thanks to Sigfox Monarch and Atlas services, global asset tracking is simpler and more affordable than ever. Producing low cost, high autonomy trackers there are no limits to tackling the ROI issue of asset tracking solutions.

From inception, we were convinced that a global network dedicated to small messages would change the world. Now with this one billion people covered milestone, we are paving the way towards the IoT revolution. With its unique iPhone platform, and its Appstore, Apple opened up huge opportunities for new start-ups to become unicorns. With its unique global network and its growing ecosystem, Sigfox is now opening the Appstore for IoT” says Ludovic Le Moan, co-founder and CEO at Sigfox.

Tim Harris, CEO of the Sigfox operator for the United Kingdom, WNDUK, added, “We are proud to be a part of Sigfox’s global expansion and it is testament to the strength of its connectivity solution. We are also delighted to announce that we’re now covering over 50 million people in the UK. Sigfox’s technology is not only helping our customers transform their businesses, but it is also enabling new innovations that are setting the tone for the fourth industrial revolution.”

Frédéric Serre, Program Director at Sigfox customer, Verisure, added “Sigfox’s unrivalled connectivity solution has helped strengthen our value proposition and leadership position in the rapidly growing monitored security market. As we strive closer to the fourth industrial revolution, being one step ahead is important for both our business, and for the customers we serve”.
