MINSAIT OPTIMIZES THE DACHSER OPERATION APPLYING IOT TECHNOLOGY FOR THE LOCALIZATION OF ITS ASSETS

It has managed to locate the ‘transport cages’ to be aware of their location at all times, manage their use more efficiently and avoid losses, thus reducing possible replacement costs

The project is a milestone in the logistics sector since it has carried out a comprehensive deployment of Internet of Things technology, saving potential challenges such as the battery life of the devices, the limitations of adequate physical space to install them or the scalability requirements of the applied solution

Madrid, November 5, 2018.– Minsait, an Indra company, has optimized the task of locating assets in Dachser through the application of IoT (Internet of Things) technology, which has meant a significant improvement in profitability and operability of the logistics services operator. Specifically, the company, in collaboration with Dachser, has managed to locate the so-called ‘transport cages’ (assets used to transport non-palletised or high-value merchandise), managing to better manage their use and avoid losses, thus reducing the consequent costs of replacement.

For this, Minsait has made available to Dachser its Onesait Platform solution, which receives information from the communications network Sigfox – the leading global provider of connectivity for IoT – and has served as the basis on which to develop the traceability tool and asset Management. This application allows the inventory of assets to be updated, to maintain a complete traceability of their movements in the network of Dachser centers, to manage their return and to generate alerts in case of prolonged signal loss.

It is a unique project in the logistics sector since it has consisted of a comprehensive deployment of an IoT solution, composed of IoT devices installed in each of the assets, Sigfox as an IoT communications network and Onesait Platform for the exploitation of information and management. It is a milestone since the location of assets with Internet of Things technology is still rare, since it requires devices with ample autonomy, adequate physical spaces for their installation and the requirement that the applied solutions be scalable, both in capacity and in costs. Challenges that, in the case of Dachser, Minsait has managed to solve successfully.

The traceability of products and the location of assets have become fundamental points for the technological evolution of logistics companies. The need to know at all times the position of the elements is a determining factor in the profitability and operations of the companies, especially when, in addition, it offers great added values in terms of efficiency and planning. “Geo-positioning is the basis to analyze deviations in the operation, measure times of use of the elements, perform an effective management of assets or implement security measures, to name a few examples“, values Roberto Espina Manchón, Director of Services and Infrastructure in Minsait, who considers this type of solutions, with great potential for evolution, as “keys in the digital transformation of the logistics sector”. In addition, thanks to the progress made, “the complexity and the times of development and implementation of this type of projects have been greatly reduced, with returns of the investment easily measurable in a short time“, clarifies. For his part, Juan Quintana, Managing Director EL Iberia de Dachser, explains that “having accurate and real-time information on operations at all levels is essential to achieve efficient management. The data should allow us to anticipate and minimize impacts in the next links of the chain“.

Cutting-edge technology to evolve Logistics

Minsait has put itself at the forefront in the development of solutions and services for the Logistics and Transport sector and has positioned itself as one of the unavoidable partners for the incorporation of these industries into the new digital era, thanks to the provision of end-to-end systems. end that include all the business processes derived from this market and contribute to its profitability and efficiency. Among its most outstanding attributes, Minsait has the capacity to lead the digital transformation of logistics companies and offers a wide variety of technologies aimed at this, such as the aforementioned Internet of Things to improve the traceability of assets, people or operations; Analytics and Big Data to optimize and improve processes; u Omni-channeling to better manage a customer who demands more personalized attention and based on a greater knowledge of their needs and orders.
